Looking for unusual things to do in Hamburg, Germany? Take a tour of U-434, a Russian submarine docked at the harbour.
Located near the St Pauli Fischmarkt, this 90m-long submarine, now a museum exhibit, looms large and ominous out of the water.
It was built in 1975 and remained in active service until 2001.
Now visitors can explore the vessel by descending down a narrow, creaking metal staircase into the torpedo loading hatches, complete with eerie-looking mannequins.
Peer into tiny bedrooms, check out the captain’s cabin and experience the cramped living quarters and claustrophobic corridors.
This is a truly unique experience and one not to be missed if you’re visiting Hamburg!
Tickets cost €9 per person and can be booked at the ticket office in front of the submarine.
